Even we at WinBuzzer are feeling the effects of this outage. We use Trello and Slack to coordinate our work and for communication. Trello has been down for a couple of hours and has certainly disrupted our work day. Possibly an incidental problem is users claiming they cannot download or update apps on iOS. This is so far unconfirmed as a link with the AWS problem. As mentioned, the amount of services and companies affected by this outage is staggering....

One of the neat things about Mac is you can get Windows 10 if you need it. Apple’s Boot Camp service allows users to dual boot to Windows when they need to. I am talking specifically about the Hackintosh community. So-called Hackintoshers (a riff on Apple’s Mackintosh platform) are those who modify existing Macs or build their own. Since the launch of the M1, the ability to hack Apple machines is moving towards extinction. Apple does not and likely never will sell M1 chips on their own, meaning those wanting to build their own machines will be unable. Recently, however, there’s been a shift from the use to Rich Text File attachments to Microsoft’s own PowerPoint format. According to the firm, a phishing email is sent to users, often spoofing an invoice, and has a .ppsx file linked. Downloading and opening the presentation reveals a slide with the text CVE-2017-8570, an older Office exploit that isn’t actually used in the attack. Instead, it exploits CVE-2017-0199, which is used to start the infection process via PowerPoint animations....
